How to get on trains and subways in Tokyo

<Route Map>Yamanote Line

Welcome to Tokyo.

Tokyo’s rail system is the most extensive and most used network in the world.

It's so complex to get used to it for first time travelers.

I highly recommend to learn Yamanote Line at very first.

Yamanote Line covers central Tokyo, including Shinjuku, Shibuya, Akihabara, and Ueno. Almost all visitors may use this line.

The Yamanote Line is the above-ground loop line that circles central Tokyo.

Trains run in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions around the loop.

Yamanote Line trains run about every 5minutes. (2-3 minutes at peak periods)

A complete loop of the Yamanote Line takes about an hour.
